The second stop, we will set off on March 28th in Jiangmen, a hometown of overseas Chinese, to start an in-depth exploration of the aesthetics of light and shadow.
As a photographer for many years, you must know the particularity of black and white photography. As a black and white photography, its tiny grayscale changes can bring different sensory experiences to readers. What rules do these grayscales that make up the picture follow when expressing your inner world? How can you correctly convey the colorful world to readers through bipolar expressions, so that they can have a new round of sensory experience?
This course lasts for 3 days, mainly focusing on the three aspects of "the relationship and role of shadow and tone/how to convey black and white photos/concrete, metaphorical and abstract expressions". By shooting characteristic scenes in Jiangmen and picture analysis, theory and practice are integrated in practice.

1. Tone and communication skills of black and white photos
In-depth study of the composition elements and mechanism of tone in photos, master how to use tone to highlight the subject and create atmosphere. Explore the unique expression of black and white photos, learn to transform color information into black and white gray layers, and enhance the expressiveness and artistic appeal of the picture.
2. Concrete, metaphorical and abstract expression
Through actual shooting and case analysis, understand how to achieve concrete, metaphorical and abstract expression in black and white photography. Learn to use the change of tone to transform real scenes into works of art with rich connotations, so that photos can convey richer emotions and thoughts.
3. Advantages of shooting characteristic scenes in Jiangmen
Gulao Water Town, Jiangmen Old Street, Kaiping Diaolou, Taishan Qiaoxu and other shooting spots, their unique historical charm, architectural style and natural landscape provide rich materials for the creation of tone and black and white photography. Here, students can make full use of these scenes and explore the infinite possibilities of tone and black and white language.
4. Practice and feedback
Through on-site shooting and guidance, transform theory into practice and improve the cognition and skills of photography.
After each shoot, the instructor will comment on the work to help students discover their own strengths and weaknesses and break through bottlenecks.

The grayscale epic behind the filming location
Jiangmen Xuding Old Street
Xuding is the birthplace of Jiangmen and the origin of the city. The "Jiji Stone" and "Shuibutou" here are the center of Xuding Old Street and the origin of Jiangmen. On the "Jiji Stone" steps, every step echoes the market in the Ming Dynasty. The lines cut by the clothesline in the sky are the most vivid composition textbook.
Heshan Gulao Water Town
The wisdom of reclaiming land 600 years ago has been transformed into the rhythm of 300 stone bridges today. The river network here is dense, the small bridges flow and the scenery is pleasant. You can take a boat to visit the water town and taste the local river food. In addition, Gulao Water Town has many traditional buildings and cultural heritages, such as Gulao reclamation culture and dragon boat culture. When the morning mist spreads over the Mulberry Fish Pond, it becomes a living museum of ink scrolls.
Kaiping Watchtowers and Villages
Located in Kaiping, Jiangmen, Guangdong, it is distributed in 15 towns (streets) and is one of the Cantonese dwellings. There are still 1,833 watchtowers that are well preserved, with different shapes and few repeated styles. The 1,800 Chinese and Western defense buildings, each iron window is a sieve of light, projecting the code of a century of overseas Chinese history in the afternoon.
Taishan Overseas Chinese Market
Taishan Overseas Chinese Market is distributed in various towns and villages in Taishan, mainly along the Taishan Xinning Railway and Taishan Waterway built in the early 20th century. Each place is composed of hundreds of towers and arcade buildings. The architectural layout of them is mostly built with arcades and the concept of combining Chinese and Western styles. The composition is rich and colorful, and there are regional styles in different Western historical periods. These arcades and towers are not only architectural treasures, but also witnesses of history. They carry the courage of Taishan people to venture into the world, and also record the glorious chapter of cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries.
