In March, we completed the second stop of "Beyond the Bay" in Jiangmen, exploring and practicing the special photographic language of black and white photography. In the combination of practice and theory, the students learned in depth: Why use black and white photography? How does black and white photography form its unique way of expression? How to use black and white tones and contrast transformations to express tone, intonation, and metaphors and abstractions of black and white. During the shooting process, through the students' independent exploration and observation, and the instructor's detailed analysis and narration of the students' works, the students learned how to transform records into expressions. This teaching method that takes advantage of the situation is unique.

From April 18 to 20, the third stop of the Greater Bay Area Nine Cities Photography Plan will start again! This time we will go to Zhuhai, and through the combination of practice and theory, we will deeply study and research Photographic Language - Shape, Contour and Texture. In photography, shape, as the main element of the picture, can appear as the subject of expression, while contour appears as a pronoun, which has more room for imaginative expression. Texture is one of the important elements that distinguishes photography from painting, and it is also an important descriptive language for materiality. They both play an important role in the expression of the picture!

About History and Culture
Qi'ao Island is located in the north of Zhuhai, on the west side of the Pearl River Estuary, near Tangjiawan. It is the only island in Zhuhai that has a bridge and can be reached directly by car. Qi'ao is a picturesque island with green mountains and clear waters, and the "Nine Bays and Eighteen Peaks" attract tourists with its extremely primitive and simple charm. The Eight Scenic Spots of Qi'ao: Watching the Sun at Chiling, Morning Dew at Luling, Flowing Water between Pines, Waves of Venus, Sunset at Jishan, Misty Rain at Jiazhou, Evening Ferry at Powan, and Night Moon at Kezhu are picturesque, ethereal and elegant. There are 17 temples on this Qi'ao Island with an original area of less than 18 square kilometers, which is full of rich historical and cultural atmosphere. The East Village Ancestral Temple was built in the Song Dynasty, and the Wenchang Palace was built during the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty.
Jintai Temple
Jintai Temple, formerly known as Jintai Jingshe, is located in Doumen District, Zhuhai City. It is backed by Huangyang Mountain, which is 583 meters above sea level and is known as the first peak of the Pearl River Gateway. It is one of the eight Huangyang scenic spots. In the late Southern Song Dynasty, loyal ministers escorted Emperor Xiangxing Zhao Bing to deploy thousands of warships to fight against the Yuan army on the Yamen Sea in Xinhui, Guangdong, but failed. Prime Minister Lu Xiufu carried the young Emperor Xiangxing and jumped into the sea to die for his country.
Doumen Ancient Street
Doumen Ancient Street is located in Doumen Town, at the southern end of the Pearl River Delta, in the northwest of Doumen District, Zhuhai City, with Huangyang Mountain to the east and Hutiaomen Waterway to the west. Doumen Ancient Street, with its unique arcades that integrate Chinese and Western architectural styles in the main buildings, stands out among the buildings in Doumen. The heights of the shops and doors are basically uniform and the specifications are similar. The exterior walls and corridor ceilings are decorated with brick carvings in flower shapes, geometric figures, etc. The combination of Chinese and Western styles of Doumen Ancient Street vaguely shows its characteristics as a commercial street and its former prosperity.
Jiexia Manor
Zhaojiazhuang (Jiexiazhuang) has a unified architectural style and a reasonable layout. The design of the houses in the village is modeled after the Xiguan model in Guangzhou and was built by architects from Foshan. By the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty, the construction of the houses and the decoration of the environment in the village were magnificent. At that time, there were 14 magnificent houses, all facing south and north, all made of blue bricks and tiles, with appropriate shades of light and dark tones outlining an elegant and simple outline. The east, west and north sides of the village are surrounded by lotus ponds and green bamboos, and the south side is surrounded by the Huzhuang River, green bamboos and a four-meter-high wall. A small river flows from east to west and turns north to Zisuntang. Outside the village, there is a forest of Xiashan Mountain to the east and south, and the Xiashan Ancestral Temple is built in the forest. There are 5 gates in the village, all of which are guarded by special personnel. The entire manor is surrounded by green mountains, green waters, green bamboos and flowers, like a paradise on earth. It is really a paradise on earth. Being in it is refreshing.
Xiazhou Village
Xiazhou Village is a village with a history of more than 300 years and a profound cultural heritage. It is known as the "Sweet Village" because of its abundant production of sugarcane, longan, lychee, grapes, etc.
