01 Waiting for the good to happen
At around 3 pm, guests entered the venue one after another. During the tea break, they learned about the curatorial concept of this exhibition and exchanged stories behind each work with the curator and the artists.
With the speech of David Lai, the manager of 5A1 Art Space, the exhibition finally opened. 5A1 Art Space is committed to connecting art spaces and galleries around the world, providing a platform for development and communication for contemporary well-known and emerging artists.
02 "In modern society, poetry has become unfamiliar, which is abnormal"
In the art dialogue, curator Chun Wai shared Qiu's photography path and his thoughts on the selection of works for this exhibition. Qiu's photography has evolved from Chronicles which focuses on the external present to the recent Wuxu which has a strong Chinese literati artistic conception and is poetic. Behind it is not only Qiu's individual transformation, but also the strong influence of the changes in the external world on the artist's own will.
Qiu shared the motivation for creating Wuxu. As a Hakka living in Guangdong, the distant north in the literature has always had a mysterious call to him. "The vastness of the north shocked me greatly. There was endless snow on the plains. I walked through it, as if I was the only one in the world."
"I gradually moved from documentary to gradually abandoning it. My current works seem to have nothing to do with documentary, but what I want to present is the relationship between the city and people. Now Wuxu is basically a trace of people. This is my only requirement and bottom line when creating."
03 This communication is far from over, it is a communication with you
What photography captures from the long river of time is not only a real cross-section of the current world, but also a wave of surging thoughts. This wave meets another wave randomly in a frank communication. This may be the best part that art can bring us.
It's a pleasure to communicate with you today.
QIU's Solo Exhibition: The Longest Day of the Earth will be on display until October 16th.
